The next time you visit the SDSU Bookstore, you might notice something new – a MAC Cosmetics counter. According to Todd Summer, director of campus stores for Aztec Shops, it is the first of its kind at a college bookstore in the country.

“We want to provide more products to our customers on campus and cosmetics are a great fit,” Summer said. “We’re happy that MAC – our first choice – decided to partner with us.”

Convenience and more

While the store will have the same prices as the retailer, it will have an advantage over the nearest freestanding store in Fashion Valley Mall – convenience.

During normal operating hours, the bookstore will have MAC technicians on hand to provide customers the service they’ve come to expect. The location will also carry a range of MAC products, and MAC Store exclusive collections.

“Like the opening of the Blick Art Materials store last semester, the bookstore is trying to partner with well-known companies and brands,” Summer said.

“We hope to start more partnerships like this in the future.”

Shared values

Of course, there’s more to MAC than a well-known brand. Many of their initiatives – from recycling to their commitment to diversity – are important at SDSU.

The company's philanthropic and business efforts on behalf of AIDS, cruelty-free testing and recycling are an integral part of MAC's corporate culture and brand identity.

About Aztec Shops

Like all products and services offered by Aztec Shops, the nonprofit auxiliary of SDSU that runs the bookstore, profits from MAC Cosmetics will be reinvested in student scholarships and other philanthropic endeavors, such as capital improvement projects and donations to campus groups and organizations.

The SDSU Bookstore is one of the largest sales volume campus bookstores in the country and offers an extensive selection of textbooks, SDSU-imprinted clothing and gifts, and a full-service computer department, as well as school supplies, cards, gifts and graduation regalia.
