Harambee Recruits Top African American Students

Harambee Weekend, in conjunction with Explore SDSU, showcases SDSU's cultural engagement.

San Diego State University’s Harambee Weekend is a personalized event for admitted students that provides insight into the SDSU African American community.

It will give students a glimpse into the culturally responsive and social support system available to SDSU students.

Event details

The event begins at 3 p.m. Friday, March 16, and includes an optional overnight stay in the SDSU residence halls.

The weekend concludes with Explore SDSU Open House on Saturday, March 17.

Harambee Weekend includes:

  • Meet and greet with committed SDSU Faculty and Staff
  • Enriching discussions with African American student leaders and organizations
  • Dinner and student entertainment
  • Culturally responsive question and answer session with university administrators and faculty
  • Overnight stay in the residence halls with SDSU Harambee Student Liaisons
  • Breakfast with SDSU students and staff
