The San Diego State University School of Theatre, Television, and Film is kicking off its season with a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s popular romantic comedy, “As You Like It,” opening September 28 at the Experimental Theatre.

“Audiences will see a vibrant piece of theatre that is modernized, but also so connected to what I think Shakespeare intended for this piece,” said Peter Cirino, the show’s director.

Shakespeare’s fast-paced, character-driven play explores politics, family and gender with the Forest of Arden as the backdrop.

However, SDSU’s gender-bending rendition updates the late sixteenth century play bringing it to Duke's Deep Woods, a present day burlesque drag club.

Show Schedule

“As You Like It” runs from Sept.28 until Oct. 7 with 7:30 p.m. shows on Sept. 28, and 29 and Oct. 3, 4, 5, and 6. There are 2 p.m. shows on Sept. 30 and Oct. 7.
