Graduate Programs Rank Among Best in Nation

More than a dozen programs are recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools 2012.”

More than a dozen San Diego State University graduate programs are ranked among the nation’s best in U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools 2012,” which was released online March 15.

Among SDSU’s highest ranked programs were rehabilitation counseling, which ranked ninth in the nation. The graduate program trains students to help individuals with physical, emotional or mental health disabilities improve their quality of life, leading to greater levels of self-sufficiency. The only programs ranking higher than SDSU also offer doctoral level degrees, while SDSU does not.

SDSU’s jewelry and metalwork program, in the School of Art, Design and Art History, ranked fifth in the nation.

Both programs held steady their rankings from previous publications.

SDSU’s nursing midwifery specialization improved its national ranking to 29th, up from 33rd in 2008.

The chemistry and nursing programs were also ranked.

In addition, SDSU’s College of Education, College of Engineering and College of Business Administration were all ranked among the best schools of their kind.
